 Uploading ....A while back I listed a few common poker terms that are important to know if you read up on strategy for winning in US poker rooms. For the next few months, I would like to go over a few new poker dictionary entries. To make it more organized, I will try to go through all the letters of the alphabet and explain one dictionary entry for each letter. Hopefully these next few entries help you out.
For my very first word, let’s take a look at the term “ante”. You will want to know about this word for sure if you play tournaments on a PokerStars download. An ante is a bet that must be paid by all players at the table before the hand is dealt. The ante is usually around 10% of the big blind, although the amount varies.
Here’s a word for which you probably already know the definition: “bluff”. When you bet or raise in a way that causes your hand to look stronger than it actually is, you are bluffing. For the letter C, here is a something that many of the top Texas Hold'em sites watch out for in their security departments: chip dumping. Chip dumping is defined as losing chips to someone else on purpose. People will do this to share chips in a tournament, for example, but the seriousness of the situation becomes apparent when you consider that chip dumping can also be used for money laundering. This is why the best US poker sites have a regular security team watching for suspicious betting patterns on the tables.
When you are studying on free poker training sites, you might need to know about “dirty outs”. You have a situation of dirty outs when cards that improve your hand improve an opponent’s hand even more. For instance, say you are playing cash games to earn the bonus you got with your Titanpoker bonus code and you have a straight draw on a flop with 2 hearts. If you turn your straight with a card that is a heart, this could be a dirty out since someone may have also made a flush.
